La Grave is our Chamonix in Oisans… minus the crowds!
La Grave, at an altitude of 1500m at the foot of the Meije, has retained its authentic beauty and is classified one of “the most beautiful villages of France”. The landscapes here are superb: just look up and you’ll see the sparkling glaciers and sharp peaks all around.
This is a great point of departure thanks to the Meije cable car which means you can considerably shorten the walking time up to the itineraries, each one more magical than the last. With many peaks standing at an altitude of between 3000 and 4000m, this is a high mountain territory.
