Different by its very nature!

Villard-Reymond is a high-altitude mountain village that enjoys a bird’s-eye view of Bourg d’Oisans. The commune begins at an altitude of 820 m on the right-hand bank of the fast-flowing water of the Lignarre torrent, and extends right up to the top of the Grand Renaud at 2732 m.

With its town hall at 1650 m, Villard-Reymond is the highest village in Isère and the second-highest village in France. Located opposite the Massif des Grandes Rousses and Alpe d’Huez, it enjoys a south-facing position, offering a wonderful view over the Massif du Taillefer.

Activities

In the middle of a huge, closed valley, surrounded by Alpine peaks, there are plenty of open-air activities on offer around Villard-Reymond, including hiking, mountaineering, and mountain biking routes for every level (around the Prégentil cliff).
Cyclists can reach the village on a picturesque road, admiring the characteristic landscape of Villard-Reymond, with its Alpine forests, stony cliffs and pastures.
In winter, the area is completely untouched, making it ideal for ski touring and snowshoeing.

What to see and do

Cécile ANDRIEUX - Ferme du Champ Perché

Local producers on the Route des Savoir-Faire

The heart of the village continues to beat thanks to mountain agriculture and the producers who use it! Jams, wild garlic, homemade aperitifs, génépi … it’s all made by Chantal with fruits and berries that grow at the top of the village (Col du Solude). Cécile takes care of fruit, veg and small cakes. The Jardins d’en Haut and Le Champ Perché would be delighted to share their expertise with you.

Le Gîte de l'Eau Blanche à Villard-Reymond

Gîte de l’Eau Blanche

The old community school is back in use! In 1993, it was transformed into an inn, where it became a focal point for the village, be it with the bread festival, the meal for Midsummer’s Day, a film-banquet, or a concert. The inn is loved for its fresh and inventive cuisine, prepared with local and organic products, and has earned itself quite the name in Oisans. A rustic and friendly reception awaits you in Villard-Reymond, where the inn can sleep 14 people.

Randonnée à la croix du Carrelet

Tête de Louis XVI, Grand Renaud, Col du Solude, Prégentil…

Villard-Reymond is in the heart of a natural cirque, out in the wilderness! Everywhere you go, iconic sites of Oisans await you. La tête de Louis XVI rises up opposite the village, with easy hikes (300 m difference in altitude). It is popular for its view over Villard-Reymond and the Vallée de la Lignarre. Going up the ridge line, you’ll pass by Tête des Filons (2396 m), Petit Renaud (2606 m) and Grand Renaud (2776 m), which dominate the whole over the whole mountaineering route. From the Col du Solude (above the village), you can enjoy an unobstructed view of Grandes Rousses as well as two popular hiking routes. To the east, towards Villard-Notre-Dame, you’ll find the Croix du Carrelet (2060 m). To the west, along the Prégentil cliff, the path leads to the Col St-Jean or back down to the Vallée de la Romanche.
