Hike to the refuge du carrelet summer 2024

Itinerary :
At the foot of the Venosc gondola lift, walk down to the Bourg d'Arud bridge and join the path to Plan du Lac. At the white-water base, follow signs for Le Puy / Saint Christophe en Oisans. On leaving St Christophe, follow Pré Clot, then Champhorent. Take the road to the municipal campsite. Cross the bridge and follow the path to La Bérarde.

At the bottom of a rocky valley, this path goes back to the origins of the Vénéon and leads to the Plan du Carrelet. The greenery of this "plan" contrasts with the sheer cliff of the Ailefroide, which dominates the refuge with its 2000 m vertical drop. This trail has been extensively restored by National Park teams to make it accessible to hikers.

TO SEE ON THE ROUTE:
Rhododendrons, gentians and many other mountain flowers can be seen in the alpine meadows. Chamois and marmots are not far away: all you need to do is sharpen your senses to see or hear them.

The refuge sits on the former alpine hamlet of Plat du Carlez, a quiet, verdant meadow at the crossroads of the Vénéon valley and the Chardon valley. It's an ideal spot from which to admire the Ailefroide and the Rouies, emblematic peaks of the Ecrins. Whether you're passing through during the day to sample our fresh pasta and drink a homemade vitamin juice, or staying in one of our 8 to 2-person rooms, the Carrelet refuge is ideal for a 100% nature break under the benevolent eye of the peaks.
