High Route : le Tour de la Meije

Skiing all the way around enables you to admire her from all sides. Skiing around her means that you can court the Queen. Skiing around her is a mountain trip that you will never forget. May the Queen be with you.

CLASSIC ROUTE
> 5 days - 4550 m height difference
- Day 1 : + 400 m
Park at Villar d’Arène (1650 m), climb up to the Refuge de l’Alpe de Villar d’Arène (2079 m) or the Chalet-refugede Chamoissière (2106 m).
- Day 2 : + 1200 m
Up to the Refuge Adèle Planchard (3169 m). Option of continuing to the top of the Grande Ruine (3765 m).
- Day 3 : + 1400 m
Up to the Col de la Casse Déserte (3483 m), down to the Refuge du Châtelleret (2225 m), up to the Refuge du Promontoire (3092 m)
- Day 4 : + 700 m
Up to the Brèche de la Meije (3357 m) then over to the Passage du Serret du Savon (3399 m), Refuge de l’Aigle (3441 m)
- Day 5 : + 450 m
Up to the Pic oriental (3891 m), down via the Glacier de l’Homme, back to the car park in Villar d’Arène

High Routes and ski raids are for experienced ski-tourers that also have good skiing and mountaineering skills. They involve several days of ski touring with nights spent in mountain huts.
But you have to start somewhere and you can always throw yourself into the adventure with just a little experience and skill by using mountain guides.
Ski raids can be organised between the end of March and May according to the weather forecast, the amount of snow and hut opening periods. You can of course ski outside of the hut opening periods by using the refuges d’hiver or winter shelters although this means you have to carry your own food.
