About : Lanchatra chapel
In almost every hamlet, even the highest ones like Lanchatra, you'll find a chapel. This "secondary" religious building for a parish was not the property of the church, but of the private funds that enabled its construction. These funds could have come from a wealthy family, a lord or, as was the case in the hamlet of Puy le Haut, from an entire community in gratitude to a patron saint for protection or during an exceptional event. Since the separation laws of 1905, most churches and chapels are owned by the communes.
Location supplement
From Plan du Lac (between Venosc and St Christophe en Oisans) cross the footbridge that spans the Vénéon and then the next one that goes in front of the beautiful Cascade de la Pisse. The path begins to rise and rises sharply up to the hamlet of Lanchatra with its chapel.
