Combining the pleasure of walking with philosophical reflection - that's the idea behind this randophilo led by Simon PARCOT.

About : Randophilo with Simon PARCOT: what is travel?

Simon Parcot is a writer and trail philosopher.

As a young man, he traveled frequently in the Caucasus, the Balkans and North Africa. He experimented with deserts, first of fire (Sahara), then of ice (Spitzbergen - North Pole). Later, he discovered Brazil, the madness of India, the harshness of the Himalayas (Nepal). He also wears out his soles on the trails of Europe (Chemin de Compostelle, chemin de Stevenson, Tour de l'Oisans).

After studying literature, he obtained a Master's degree in Philosophy (specializing in Human Sciences) from the Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (2018).

After a spell as a philosophy teacher, he decided to return to the mountains, living in the Massif des Ecrins. There, he devoted himself to writing and invented the "balades-philo", mobile introductions to philosophy.

The mountains and their world inspire him:

In 2018, he wrote his first book, "Revenir de l'Hiver" (auto-ed.), a poetized logbook recounting his adventures on the roads to Compostela.

In 2022, he published his first novel, "Le Bord du monde est vertical" (Le Mot et le Reste). Le Bord du monde won the Ecrire la Nature L'Express (Fiction), Récit de l'Ailleurs and Alpe Isère Habitat awards, and was a finalist for several prizes, including the Première Plume, Hors Concours and Lettres Frontières awards.

In 2023, he published "Carnet de Guides" (ed.Glénat), a literary and graphic documentary presenting a series of portraits of high-mountain guides.
