Alexis Bérar was born in 1976, and lives and works in Grenoble. His practice is that of photography, which he works on serially, blending the fields of documentary and fiction.

He focuses on tangible traces as much as on poetic clues. His sensitivity is porous to the accidental and the impromptu. At the heart of his artistic process and linking all his productions is the question of inhabitation - inhabitation understood as a set of interactions between humans and territories. In other words, how humans experience a territory and shape it, and how the territory influences humans and induces individual and social ways of being and doing.

This practice unfolds over a long period of time, punctuated by artistic residencies, exhibitions, editions and transmission workshops that constantly contribute to nourishing and shifting it.
