Families, contemplative types and sports enthusiasts, discover the Meije region on foot during a full- or half-day outing in the heart of the Hautes Vallées, between Oisans and Écrins.
About : Day hike with the Bureau des Guides de la Grave
Downstream of the Col du Lautaret, the Haute Romanche valley is wide open. It marks the northern edge of the Ecrins National Park. It's a valley that has remained very authentic, from an architectural and heritage point of view, and where pastoralism is still very much alive. This wild mountain region is also home to exceptional flora and fauna. Hiking here in summer, from the village of La Grave, is an obvious choice. On the right bank, kilometers of alpine trails and panoramic views of the Meije massif await you, and can even lead you to some of the highest peaks in the world, peaking at over 3,000 meters. It's also possible to get up close and personal with the high mountains, in the heart of the Ecrins National Park, to enjoy the peace and quiet of the high alpine pastures at the foot of the highest peaks, or to reach a refuge on the edge of the glaciers.
