Tour des Ailefroides

This is a circular hike from pass to pass, crossing glaciers and getting up close to the highest summits of the massif:
Coolidge Peak - 3774 m
Cold wing - 3954 m
Pelvoux - 3943 m
Barre des Ecrins 4102 m

From hut to hut, visiting the villages of La Bérarde and Ailefroide, you will quickly get used to the steady pace of the walk and the dawn departures. In the purest mountain tradition, your guide will teach you the required techniques, as well as raising awareness of the environment.

*Starting from La Bérarde in the Upper Vénéon, a historical mountaineering site at the foot of the Meije and the Ecrins.
*Accommodation in high mountain huts and a chance to talk with the wardens.

Day 1
Meet at La Bérarde, hike up to the Temple Ecrins hut at 2410m, learn how to rope together, presentation of the tour.
Height gain: 680m

Day 2
Hike up to the Col de la Temple: 3321m
Descent to the village of Ailefroide: 1500m via the Glacier Noir and the Pré de Madame Carle. Night at the Ailefroide chalet hotel.
Height gain: 820m
Height loss: 1720m

Day 3
Ascent to the Sélé hut: 2542m
Descent to the hut: 3450m
Night at the Sélé hut (with warden)
Height gain: 1050m

Day 4
Over the Sélé pass: 3283m
Night at the Pilatte hut (with warden): 2577m
Height gain: 820m
Height loss: 800m

Day 5
Ascent of Mount Gioberney: 3352m
Descent to la Bérarde: 1727m
Height gain: 775m
Height loss: 1625m
