In 2003, violinist Richard Schmoucler took up the challenge of creating an ensemble halfway between classical academism and traditional Eastern European music. With his friends from the Paris orchestras, a pianist and a cymbal player, he formed the SIRBA OCTET.

The Sirba Octet's new programme is a journey into the land of traditional Yiddish, Armenian and Gypsy music, each radiating nostalgic yet festive colours. "Tsuzamen. Together and united against the oblivion of genocides - that of the Jews, the Armenians and the gypsies - the Sirba Octet wanted to blend these repertoires so that a certain idea of fraternity would be embodied and resonate in music.
