Going up to Oulles, the smallest village in Isère and only linked by road in 1962 is a winter journey in itself. Continuing on skis onto the Taillefer is the natural finale.

HIKING SUGGESTIONS from Oulles
> Classic day hike :
- Le Grand Galbert, east side (2561 m) + 1150 m
This is an ideal summit for ski touring: never very steep, it lifts you to its summit from the beautiful village of Oulles. It dominates the entire Romanche valley, with spectacular views of the Belledonne massif and, of course, the Taillefer summit. Beware: facing due east, it gets the sun very early.
Classic one-day itineraries

LIGNARRE VALLEY AND COL D'ORNON SECTOR
Two sectors for the price of one! One on the Taillefer side and the other on the Grand Renaud side, the accesses are not the same but relatively close.
Either way, you'll be entering the secret, friendly Lignarre valley, where the imprint of the mountain way of life can be seen everywhere. With its small hamlets scattered along the steep valley sides, far from the major tourist centers, the Lignarre is a multitude of nooks and crannies to discover.
"Taillefer" - the name alone sounds like a whiplash - comes from the lead mines, an austere metal stubbornly extracted from the mountain. A little-known massif, shrouded in mystery, surrounded by beautiful peaks, gorged with peat bogs and lakes. Arriving from Grenoble, the massif towers over the road from a sheer drop of almost 1000 m. Facing north, it's a small, almost impregnable citadel with a mysterious aura. Geologically, it is an extension of Belledonne, but is isolated by the Romanche valley. Its summit, the Taillefer, rises to 2857 m and offers superb views of Grenoble, the Ecrins and Dévoluy. For lack of visitors, the snow on this massif remains virgin for a long time.
As connoisseurs know, Taillefer is not yet a goldmine, but an inexhaustible mine for ski touring!
On the Grand Renaud side, you can explore the large cirque in which the small village of Villard-Reymond is located, or opt for the small, family-friendly resort of Col d'Ornon, where you can do some great free rando runs or reach the neighboring massifs without too much effort.

/!\ IMPORTANT
Ski touring is a high-risk activity for which all skiers are responsible.
