There’s nothing quite like being in water. Whether swimming or playing, doing lengths or just lazing around, water is invigorating and makes you feel good.
In addition to the many swimming pools, lakes and watersports areas, there are also lovely riverbanks, streams and waterfalls throughout the region.
Oisans, peacefully by the water…
There are many public swimming pools:
5 covered pools (open summer and winter)
6 open-air pools (open only in summer)
Not forgetting the many private pools in campsites, hotels and complexes!
The high-altitude lakes are perfect for picnicking or simply lazing around and the cold water is ideal for cooling down in the hot summer sun.
The watersports area in Le Verney offers a range of activities including stand-up paddling, paddle boats, windsurfing and canoeing… Even though swimming is not allowed (the lake is in fact a reservoir), you can spend a lovely cool day on the water.
The Lac de la Buissonnière in Les 2 Alpes: at the entrance to the resort, there is a lovely water leisure area with a children’s playground and pétanque ground.
Rivers, mountain streams and waterfalls are also ideal for afternoons when you can at least dip your toe in the water. When the weather is really hot, it’s lovely to walk alongside the water…
