XPerience Ski around La Meije

The Tour de la Meije is done from La Grave (Hautes Alpes), in the Ecrins massif.

Program :
J1 - Meet us at 8:15 in front of the guide office at La Grave for a final check of the equipment. We then take the cable car that leads to 3200m. From there, two options are available to us for the conditions: either get by skis to the Girose Pass (3514m) or take the ski lift towards the Col de la Lauze (3512m).
We then are switching on the glacier of the Saddle for a rise with climbing skins on our skis to the breach of Rake (3236m). We then ski down to reach the eastern side of the Estançons valley . From this point we will walk quietly towards the refuge Promontoire (3082m) where we'll spend the night.
Elevation gain: approx 900m
Vertical drop: 1300m

J2 - Departure at dawn or even with headlamp toward the Breche de La Meije (3357m) that we will cross with crampons on our shoes. Then we let slip at the foot of the north face of La Meije, and then we put the climbing skins for a short ascent of about 200m. A short slide leads us to the foot of the Serret du Savon corridor where the rope and crampons lugged out of the bag again. Once on top, we catch the sun up and ski down to reach the legendary refuge de l'Aigle (3450m). From there, depending on the snow conditions, we ski down to the valley by taking the Tabuchet Glacier or Glacier de l'Homme
Elevation gain: about 700m.
Vertical drop: about 2100m depending on the option.

The program is always subject to change depending on weather, snow conditions and the level of the participants. The Mountain Guide makes the final decision to modify the program due to safety reasons.

Welcome: Technical level : good physical condition necessary as we go through three passes over 3300m with skis on the bag! For very good skiers, who feel very easy in all snow and sustained slopes (35 °).
Having mountaineering notions ( walking roped and with crampons ) is also preferable.
Duration: 2 days.
Number of participants: minimum 2 and maximum 3 persons.
