The hosts of "Au petit Catelan" have hospitality in their veins and you'll think you're staying in your family holiday home! With a pretty flowered garden, this quiet place on the edge of the forest is nevertheless close to all amenities... what more could you ask for?
A real family auberge that is an opportunity to meet lovely people. Anita and Jean Louis are the souls of the house and their kindness and willingness will make your stay one to remember. The bed & breakfast is a real cocoon, with spacious and cosy rooms in a traditional Alpine style. As a foster family for Spanish Greyhounds, Jean-Louis will take you out exploring Oisans during his walks with the dogs.
During your stay:
Enjoy tasty food worthy of a great restaurant, with conviviality an added touch. As soon as they wake up, the children will be in a hurry to collect the fresh eggs from the chicken coop for a boiled egg. Anita's homemade jams and cakes, or the excellent goat and sheep's cheeses from local farms make for a delightful breakfast. Dinner is served on the terrace, where you can relax around the barbecue and enjoy home-cooking with vegetables from the garden and local produce.
See if the fish bite. Enjoy a peaceful day's fishing along the Sarenne mountain stream or in the turquoise waters of Lake Buclet. In Bourg-d'Oisans, fishing is a wonderful time spent in nature, marvelling at the silence, pure air, blue sky, the colour of the stones and grass and the murmur of water. A serene activity to enjoy with the children.
Horse whispering. Caval'Oisans is a family-run stables. What strikes you when you go to see Julie's horses is the respect and love that is shown to them. No sooner do you get close to the fence than the horses arrive, asking to be stroked and paid attention, without being invasive. Julie knows how to increase the confidence of young riders when out in the countryside. The enchanting clip-clop of horses hooves makes Oisans an even more magical place.
Explore the Rive from a canoe. When the weather gets hot, you can enjoy a relaxing activity, suitable for all ages, by canoeing on the Rive, a small, bucolic river that crosses Bourg d'Oisans from one side to the other. The children will squeal with pleasure on the clear water and can even try their hand at paddling!
Play Cowboys and Indians at the Bison Farm. After a little ride round the farm on Didier's "agricultural carriage" to see the bison, the kids can enjoy an American Indian experience in a camp of tipis decorated with
totem pole. They will love pretending to be the Indian chief!
