This hike takes you into a small, untamed valley above the Plan du Lac, where you can explore a very pretty, isolated high-altitude hamlet, complete with a little chapel.
About : Vallon de Lanchatra
A lovely hike that is perfect for discovering the rich plant life of this small valley, as well as the architectural heritage of the Vénéon valley, with its many perched hamlets.
Starting point: Plan du Lac (between Venosc and St Christophe en Oisans)
Height gain: 634 m
Total duration: 2 1/2 hours
Distance: 3.7 km
Starting at the Plan du Lac (between Venosc and St Christophe en Oisans), take the footbridge across the Vénéon and then the bridge that crosses the bottom of the magnificent Cascade de la Pisse waterfall. The path starts to climb steeply up to the hamlet of Lancharta, where it becomes easier. It then crosses over the Passerelle du Moulin footbridge (spot the remains of the old mill below), before climbing steadily up to the shepherds hut, located at the end of the valley. The path then becomes more difficult.
DURING THE HIKE.
You can visit the Notre Dame des Neiges chapel and the hamlet before continuing the walk.
