About : Boucle du vallon des Etages

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Starting point: Les Etages (3km before La Bérarde)
Height gain: 320 m
Duration: 2½ hours
Distance:10.4km
Level: Easy

ROUTE
Leave your car in the parking area the far side of les Etages, where there is a sign detailling the hike. Walk down into the hamlet to the bridge crossing the Vénéon and then follow signs to "Vallon des Etages". Don't take the path to the left, leading down the left bank of the Vénéon to La Bérarde. Instead, take the right-hand path that climbs gently up the glacial sill to the start of the valley. To return, cross the Vallon des Etages stream (ford it!) and go back down the other side to the hamlet of Les Etages.

DURING THE HIKE
You can go as far as the bottom of the moraine to admire the cirque formed by the glacier and its summit, called the "Pointe du Vallon des Etages". On the way back, you can see the Vénéon Valley, the Vallon du Soreiller and the Aiguille Dibona on the other side. There are sometimes donkeys grazing in the valley in the summer.
