About : Church of vaujany

As you look down into the valley, you can see the church of Allemond below, right in line. The churches were signalling and warning of a possible danger, the only means of communication at the time: the bells! Before the churches, two towers, one in Vaujany, the other in Allemond, allowed communication by smoke signals.
At the tunnel site, avalanches were running down the mountain. It is reported that during the winter of 1876/77, so much snow accumulated that it equalled the height of the bell tower (Abbé Bayle).
