The castle of Bourg d'Arud is a manor which was built in XVII century by Mr. Jacques Rochette, a native citizen of Paroisse de VENOSC.
Oral tradition tells us, in the absence of road, the Castle was built with local materials.. The stone, wood and sand abound, and tuff, limestone come from the wood of Lafrette. The calcined lime wood fire in several places in the municipality. The slate handmade in thick plates (in "slate"), came from Enchatra or near the Draye Pleynet. All this created a great activity for several years.
