The Bourg d'Oisans Museum and the Oisans Geology Centre invite you to spend a day discovering these geological marvels, in order to better understand their origins, formations, shapes and colours.
About : A geological hike to the Oulles mines
A fascinating journey into the geological and human history of Oisans. We meet at 9am in front of the museum in Bourg d'Oisans to organise a carpool to the village of Oulles. From there, we then set off for a 1h20 hike, supervised by a trek leader with a PhD in Earth Sciences. We explore the landscapes of Oisans from a geological point of view before reaching the Oulles mines. Picnic and then back to Bourg d'Oisans for a visit of the museum at about 3pm. This exceptional collection of minerals from the Oisans region reveals a great diversity of shapes and colours. We will then talk about the origin and formation of these mysterious and fascinating minerals, in connection with the history of Oisans. The visit lasts approximately 1h15.
