at the foot of the ski resorts: Le Freney

If you choose to stay in Le Freney for your winter holiday, you can expect a peaceful atmosphere, village spirit, and all of this just a stone’s throw from the 3 biggest tourist destinations in the region.

When we say that in Le Freney you are at the crossroads of the biggest ski resorts in Oisans, it’s not a lie. According to a well-known itinerary planner website, Le Freney is just 18 min from Les 2 Alpes and 19 min from La Grave and Alpe d’Huez via Auris. What could be better than that?

Auris and Alpe d’Huez grand domaine Ski area

From Le Freney it’s possible to access the Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine Ski area via Auris-en-Oisans. You’ll have direct access up above Le Freney along a road that is guaranteed to be quiet.
Auris-en-Oisans can provide the advantages of a small, accessible resort which is in fact part of one of the biggest ski areas in the Alps. Auris is in a south-facing cirque at an altitude of 1,600 m and may be a small resort, but it is an impressive and affordable one. Children’s area, slopes for all levels, fun areas with Jacques the lumberjack and wild landscapes. If you would like more choice, you can take the Auris-express cable car up to Alpe d’Huez.

Les 2 Alpes

Les 2 Alpes is another unmissable ski resort. This impressive area boasts no less than 398 hectares of slopes, a glacier that guarantees natural snow cover and a globally-renowned snow park! But that is not all, there are also steep slopes, night skiing and leisure activities at the resort for when you feel like a break from skiing.
That’s right, there’s something for everyone at Les 2 Alpes!

La Grave – La Meije

La Grave is a unique, one-of-a-kind off-piste ski area where you can also choose from 3 different types of skiing in 3 different areas: ‘freedom’, ‘family’ and ‘Nordic’.

La Grave – La Meije

This vast freeride ski area is almost completely untouched, with no slopes, no grooming, and no markings. You will need to be an experienced skier to come here, or you can give this area a go with a guide!

Le Chazelet

Le Chazelet is a charming little hamlet and a great place for skiing in La Grave, thanks to the small but fully equipped family-friendly resort. The resort provides groomed and marked-out slopes across the pastures, skiing for all levels with a children’s area, ski school, beginner’s area, slopes ranging from green to red and a sledging run.

Villar d’Arène

At the foot of Lautaret, you’ll find a wild Nordic area with so much to offer, including 10 km of Nordic skiing, an 11 km snowshoeing trail, Nordic walking, a relaxation area and a natural ice rink!
